Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
HEADQUARTERS SUB ASST. COM'R, 10th SUB DIST., STATE OF VIRGINIA.
Alexandria, Va., May 8th, 1867

Bvt. Brig Gen'l. O. Brown
Asst. Com'r. State of Va.,

General;
In reply to communication of Major White of the 3d. inst. desiring me to make arrangements with Mrs Fisher to take charge of the Industrial School, and be paid so much for making the articles, to include the cost of the Superintendent, employees, needles, &c. &c.

I have the honor to state that I have consulted Mrs Fisher on the subject, and she will visit Richmond on Friday, to see the Industrial School there, and get a better understanding of how it is conducted. I will request her to call upon you, and hope you can make a satisfactory arrangement with her. Will you please send me a list of the prices paid in Richmond for making the different articles of clothing, including trimmings &c. &c. as I have no idea of what it is worth.

Mrs Fisher has a good business faculty, but as this arrangement has never been in operation here, I am anxious to have her see your school in Richmond, and consult with Miss Smiley.

I have confidence in her ability to make this successful if any one can.

I am, General,
Very Respectfully
Your Obt. Servt.
S.P Lee
Capt 45th. U.S.I. and Sub Asst. Com'r.
