If you would write and give me some encouragement I might get my time prolonged for a time

I see in the papers that you are buying eatables for the destitute at the South. I am without any thing to eat or means. I have a wife and five children. I hope to get some of your purchase but side of this affair I beg and beseech of you to try and get of citizens as much as two hundred dollars for me. if not so much, as much as you can. God will reward you. You haven't any idea of the destitution here we have to work against tide. some are too proud to acknowledge my loss is very heavy.
