I called upon them to keep quiet one man said, you white livered son of a bitch what have you got to do with it? I told him that I was an officer and would he kept quiet that I should arrest him, several of them put their hands behind them as if they were going to draw weapons. I drew my pistol and told him I would arrest him, then this man drew his hand from behind him with a pistol in it and said, you white livered son of a bitch, shoot. you cant kill but one, and there will be enough left have you. Several voices in the crowd cried out, let him shoot we will have him, at that time my attention was drawn to the left of this crowd, I saw Lindsay
