the exact words) whether I had that thing fixed (something of that sort) I told him that I had not that I had taken it to Mr. Nolan who had advised me not to sign it. He then said Mr. Anderson I will run this mill until the thing is settled. I was a little vexed at that time and said No you won't neither (some expression of that kind) I dont know anything here of importance - After that a few minutes (as well as I recall it) I went to Mr. Tracy again & thought I would read the case with him. I asked him why he thought that the securities on the bonds were not sufficient. He said that so far he was concerned he thought the securities were perfectly good & was perfectly satisfied but his mother was an old woman & childish or something of that sort and she was not satisfied.

Sir:
We have received from Mrs. Ann J. Tracey the accompanying papers signed by yourself and others purporting to be given for the rent of Rock Hill Mill which we are instructed by her to deliver to you upon the following grounds

1st Because she never has accepted them as security for the rent of Rockhill Mill or any other property.

2nd Because she does not recognize you as having any rights in said property as tenant and therefore are under no obligation to her for rent

3rd Because the said papers are valueless upon their face and therefore she has no desire to keep them and has already heretofore caused them to be tendered to you.
