B Bvt Capt. A.S.A. Comr. Sarah Besex states that her grandson John A. Stephenson, who is an orphan, was hired out by his master John Simpson Loudoun Co. on Christmas 1862. to Mary E. Buckner who resides in Madison Co Va; for $40 00/100 per year and clothing, and at the expiration of the first contract, Mrs. B. again hired him from said Simpson for two years at $100 00/100 per year, all of which time he served her faithfully, and received but $20 00/100. said $20 00/100 being in payment for services after the surrender of Lee's Army. Mrs Besex as guardian of the boy, desires the assistance of the Bureau in collecting pay for his services from Jan'y 1" 1863. to Dec. 25th 1865. less $20 00/100 already received.
