HEADQUARTERS SUB ASST. COM'R, 10th SUB DIST., STATE OF VIRGINIA.
Alexandria, Va., August 30th 1867

Bvt. Brig. Genl. O. Brown
Asst. Comr. Dist. of Va.
Richmond Va.

General.

I have the honor to report that the services of Mr. J. C. O'Neal can be dispensed with on the 31st of this month, for the reason that the issue of rations having been stopped and he having had charge of the same.

Mr. O'Neal has been notified and I would respectfully request that his appointment be annulled.

He is a very competent and faithful man and I regret the necessity for his discharge, and if he can be transferred to some other field with an increase of his salary (he only receiving $45.00 a month) I cheerfully recommend him for any position where his services may be required.

I am General
Very Respectfully, You Obdt. Servt.
S.P. Lee
