Personal Head Qrs. Bu R.F and A. L. Danville Va August 20th 1867 Capt R. S. Lacey Sub Asst Comr Sir Yours of the 16th was Received Containing papers in regard to the Public Buildings at this place the application of Mr. George Dixon is misrepresented by him entirely the Houses referred to are Commodious enoughf for Eight or ten teachers there are (14) Fourteen Rooms altogether that can be occupied eight in one House and Six in another The Burial Corps moved from here on the 15th of the month they have done Considerable of damage to that portion of the Building occupied by them the annoyances that Mr Dixon refers to in his application for those Buildings are entirely removed the work shop and the houses have been torn down and Carried off by the Burial Corps I do not see any necessity why those Houses should be turned over to Mr Dixon If this should be done It will Cause a great deal of dissatisfaction amongst the Freed people who expect to purchase those Buildings for their own use They are entirely oppose to have Mr Dixon have any control at all over those Houses (over)
