Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
HEADQUARTERS SUB ASST. COM'R, 10th SUB DIST., STATE OF VIRGINIA.

Alexandria, Va., Nov. 2nd 1867.
Bvt. Brig. Gen. O. Brown
Bureau R.F. and A Lands.
Richmond, Va.

Genl:-

I have the honor to report that, in compliance with Circular Letter from Hd-Qrs. Asst. Com'r. of Va Oct. 30th, 1867. I have called on the A.S.A Com, of the 10th Sub Dist. of Va. for report, as it will be some time before they can thoroughly investigate and report on the matter, I thought it best to forward the report of Alexandria County alone, which is to the effect, that no case of the discharge of a freedman on account of his exercising the elective franchise adversely to the wishes of his employer, has come to my notice. Should any be proven to me, I shall promptly report the same, and will forward the reports from the various counties as soon as received.

I am, General
Very Respectfully
Your obedient Servant
S. P. Lee
Capt. and Bvt. Lt. Col. U.S. Army.
Sub. Asst. Com'r. 10th Sub. Dist. Virginia.
