General:
I have the honor to report, That Fanny & James Gordon were indentured by me to Mr. J. M. Trevillian. I have endeavered to learn his character from those that formerly belonged to him. They Say - "that he was about an average master, that he worked his hands or Slaves hard, that he fed
and clothed better than than the average, that he was strict in discipline but not cruel."

I have asked the children Fanny & James if they are cruelly treated? and they answer, that they are not. If they have been tied up and whipped? Thy answer not. And that no scars can
be seen upon them the result of such whipping". It is admitted both by the children & Mr Trevillian that they have been whipped; but not barbarously as represented.

From information obtained of Mr. Thomas Curd who lived with Mr. Trevillian last year - He Says, "That the children Fanny and James Gordon are well treated indeed; that he has never known them ill or cruelly treated in
