James Wm Carter, col. says am Steward of the Church. Know Mr Tukey about eighteen monts. DOnt know anything about the administration of Mr Tukeys affairs except that everything seems to go along very well. Never had any business with Mr Tukey except to sign a contract. Am not acquainted with many colored people who had business at his office. I am much among the colored people. Mr Tukey as far as I know stands pretty well with the colored people. I did not hear that the colored people are sorry when he left. I dont think I know that Mr Tukey sold clothing.
