Winchester. Jan 29th 1866

Mr. Tukey
Col. Brown has approved my recommendation about the barrack on Mr. Whollys lot, so I wish you would tell the Freedmen that if they want the stuff they can have it by taking it right away, so that there shall be no claim for rent by the Bureau. Leave enough to satisfy Mr. Wholly that the quantity is equal to 2.200 feet of lumber, and make no unnecessary explanations to him nor anybody else.
