Mr Chase
Dear Sir.
When I came home from Warrenton the last time I saw you, I found that the report that my house was burned was true. Consequently I was houseless.
I have been doing all I could to discover who did it, and judging from reports that I am able to get there seems to be no doubt in my mind concerning who did it. I believe it was done by a man named C. A. Weaver. his half brother Wm. S. Weaver is the strongest witness against him. The said Wm. S. Weaver said that he and C. A. Weaver and A. Lewis came from Warrenton in company as far as they all used the same road. that while they were together he heard C. A. Weaver & Lewis talking about the house, and remarked that the house would be burned that night. he also said that he saw the light of the fire, and that they had about time to get there and set fire to the house and get it well afire when he saw it, from which Iconclude that if the said C. A. Weaver did not do it, then he at least knows who did do it
