In obedience to the foregoing endorsements upon the letter of W.R. Mallery, relative to the speeches made at this place on Court day, April 22d, I have the honor to report, that upon the day above named, at 5 P.M. I had reason to go to the Court House, where I saw a large gathering of whites and Freedmen in front of the Hotel, and Mr. Jos. B. Mallery, Sr. speaking to them. After attending to my business at the Court House, I repaired to the place where Mr. Mallery was speaking and listened to his closing remarks, which were in substance, as
