Dear Father

I has been a long time since I saw you, but hoping some future day I may enjoy the happiness of being with you again.  I am living with Marcellus Proctor and Jones I am well at this time and hope when these few lines reach you they may find you enjoying the same.  Father I travelled through the war safe, little did I think when I left you that I would have the pleasure of writing to you, but I intend to come to see you all. Father I am in business and if you have it I want you to send me some money as trade is slow and money is tolerable you can send it by mail.
