Issues of supplies under Act of Congress approved March 30, 1867, to cease on the 20th of August, 1867.

War Department,
Bureau Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands,
Washington, July 26, 1867
Circular
No. 26.
It is believed that the extreme destitution, heretofore pre-vailing in the Southern and Southwestern States, has in a great measure ceased to exist, and that the provisions for its relief already made under the joint resolution of Congress, approved March, 1867, will be sufficient to prevent suffering or extreme want. In accordance with instructions from the Secretary of War, Assistant-Commissioners will be prepared to suspend the issue of supplies under the Act of Congress above referred to, on the 20th of August next.
The issue of rations to sick in regularly organized hospitals, and to the Orphan Asylums for Refugees and Freedmen, may be continued for the present. Such supplies will be obtained from the Subsistence Department, in the manner provided for by the Circular Letter from the Commissary-General of Subsistence, dated November 19, 1866.
