Major,

Anthony Butler States that about the 8th of April last Dr G.F. Sterling came to Taylor Farm and made an address to the people living there, the burthen of which was that the Officers of Bureau were trying to dispossess them of Taylor Farm, that the Farm belonged to them, and that he was their friend, and wished them to remain on the farm and hold it for themselves and children and if they paid his expenses he would go to Washington to have the matter settled, and the Bureau Officers instructed that the Farm belonged to the people then living on it and that they must not interfere. He succeeded in duping them and collecting (33) thirty three dollars (49) forty nine cents. They have never heard from him Since and understanding that Sterling is now located in Richmond they desire to have this Statement forwarded to the Asst Commissioner

Very Respectfully, Your Ob't Serv't
