This is I believe the third effort Cumby has made to obtain possession of this horse. All the officers of the Army in Lynchburg Appomattox & the surrounding Counties have invariably reckognized the action of Hix in these horse cases - as well as the civil court

This horse was transfered not sold to Mr Marshall. When Mr M sold his property in Va in Dec: 1865 to Moor to Tenn. This horse was sold at public sale for $55.00 Fifty five Dollars to Mr Daniel Dickerson of Appomattox near W Church & I believe he owns him yet
