Reports that at a public meeting held at Brunswick CH, on June 24, Mr. Jos. Tucker a Union Man, was assailed while speaking and knocked down and beaten by Jas B. Mallery Jr. for expressing sentiments contrary to those just expressed by Col J.B. Mallery. That the freedmen were with difficulty restrained from riot upon seeing Mr Tucker beaten in so brutal a manner. Is taking affidavits in regard thereto, and when completed will forward a full report to the Comdg. Genl. States he requested a Magistrate to arrest the affending parties but no arrests have yet been made.
