I have the honor to report that last Monday, the 24th inst. there was a public meeting at Brunswick C.H. according to previous notice by certain parties, of whites & colored, for political purposes. The meeting was opened by Col J.B. Mallery who forced himself upon the Freedmen as Chairman of the meeting. After his speech, one Mr Joseph Tucker, a Union Man, attempted to speak, but who, for the sentiments he expressed, (they being contrary to those offered by Col Mallery) was assailed by Jos. B. Mallery Jr while speaking
