I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of a communication from your Hd. Qrs this day asking information about Twenty six $(26) Forwarded by Cornelius Mead (Freedman) through Bvt. Maj J. R.Stone Sub Asst Commr 2nd Sub District Va. from Petersburg Va. August 5th 1867 and addressed to G.W. Selridge Esq Former agent Bu. R.F. and AL. at Dalton Ga. thro. Asst. Commr. Atlanta. Ga. For Emeline Mead (Freedwoman) Dalton Ga. In reply I would respectfully state that the money was never received by me and further that no communication of any kind or character has ever been received by me respecting this person Emeline Mead until this morning.
