You must reply on detailed me for clerks — Genl Terry recommends that you see Genl Curtiss and ascertain the number of officers he can spare you for Asst. Superintendents. Are there no abandoned lands, Confederate Barracks, or buildings within your District? Genl Curtiss will soon have a Regt. of Cavalry from which he will detail you the necessary mounted men. The Cavalry horses are ordered to be sold, and cannot be retained.
