Sir,
I learned a few days since that two colored children that had been captured by Confederates at this times of the invasion of Pennsylvania, were in Charlotte County of this State. I
immediately sent for them, hoping they might prove the children Jerry and Anne Lyle for whom you had made inquiry in this I was mistaken they arrived in Richmond yesterday. They gave their names as "Jack an Sally Marshall" The boy is about seven or eight years of age. The girl two or three years older. I think there is no doubt but they were stolen from Va, and brought to Richmond, from whence they were sold to Charlotte.
