Richmond Va. Dec 31st 1866
General O. Brown

General
I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter asking "whether in my opinion the cloth known as Bureau Cloth is suitable for women's gowns and underclothes."

In my opinion it is not suitable for such purposes, being too heavy and cumbrous for working women or women of any condition, except in the shape of cloaks or jackets for out of door wear.

As your request to me to name the price of manufacture etc is conditional on my thinking the goods suitable I do not add any estimates, but could furnish them in relation to other classes of material, if it is desired.

Yours respectfully
Jane Stuart Woolsey
