Referring to you endorsement of 9th inst., forwarding application of Lieut. Mont. S. Reed, Asst. Supt., dated Fort Monroe, Va., Feby. 7, 1867 for transportation for Tamar Ann Gates and seven others to their former homes, "in order to relieve the government of their support and to prevent destitution" - the applicants testifying "that they will be able to support themselves," - which application was approved by S.C. Armstrong, Supt. 5th Dist., and forwarded by him to the Asst. Commr. on the 7th inst. You are respectfully informed that the transportation has been granted.
