Thou art no doubt aware that the property here held by the Philadelphia association for the Freedmen's School, has bee offered to us for Five hundred dollars, I have agreed to pay this money any day provided the Government will turn over to us the buildings; but in the receipt Col. Carse puts in certain restrictions which entirely deprive us of the peaceable possession of them.  I have written to Philadelphia explaining the case, and you will no doubt here from them in a few days.  Thou art no doubt aware that the association have expended a large sum in fitting up the buildings with classrooms and convenient desks and benches, and that the colored people are allowed the free use of them for their preaching, when they are not required for School purposes.
