House of Delegates.
Richmond, Va. 16 April 1867.

Maj Gen J.M. Schofield
USA
Richmond

General
The enclosed note from my friend & constituent G W Daniel Esq of Farmville Prince Edward Co Va explains itself.

Mr D is an old & respected citizen who had no connexion with the Army or Government of the Confederate States: against his protest his property has been taken & occupied for years without compensation; and, he informed me, he has received nothing (unless recently) for the public uses of his property. I hope he can be allowed some of the Buildings mentioned by him. The facts, I suppose, are of Record in your Office. His losses were very heavy from the passing Army.

You will perceive that the sale by the Govt takes place on the 23d Inst and Mr D would be glad to hear the result of his application as early as practicable.

I have the honor to be, General, Yr ob sert
