Agreeable to your endorsement of the 15th instant, requesting an answer to the enquiry of Major General Howard respecting the non payment of the amount as determined upon by the Arbitrators in the Taylor Farm case, I have the honor to submit for your information the following extracts from the records of this office together with the correspondence relating to the subject.

The papers relating to the accounts of Mr. W.E. Taylor were received at this office on the 8th day of January 1867 and on the same day Checks for the amount were forwarded to Captain W.P. Austin, Superintendent at Norfolk with the following letter of instructions.
