Dear General -

I am directed by the Commissioner to bring to your special attention the matter of the proposed purchase of the two school buildings at Danville Va. - by the Friends' Freedmen's Association of Philadelphia - Their Chairman Mr. Anthony M. Kimball is at the office this morning, and produces letter from Mr. Dixon their Agent, going to show that Col. Carse the Bureau Supt. has interfered considerably with the successful conduct of their schools, and now interposes obstacles from personal motives, to the early purchase of these buildings which the Association desire to obtain unconditionally - at the price stipulated.  Will you please look into the matter carefully, and if you find these
