Depositions of witnesses taken before us, Chapman J. Johnston, [[strikethrough]] William C. Charlton [[/strikethrough]] and Reuben F. Watts, and Granville H. Dills, Justices of the said County, now setting upon the examination of Dow Umbles (Colored), suspected of lunacy: 
The deposition of Dr Harvey G. Johnston, of the age of Thirty Six years, and by profession a physician, being by us first duly sworn, in answer to the following interrogatories, under oath, says: 
1st quest. What is the patient's age and where born? 
Answer Dont know. 
2nd Ques. Is he married if so how many children has he? 
3rd Ques. Answer, He is, and has two or three children.
3rd Question. What are his habits, occupation, and reputed property?
Answer. His occupation is a laborer. He has no property. Dont know his habits. 
4th question. How long since indications of insanity appeared?
Answer I dont know
5th What were they? Dont know. 6th quest. Does the disease appear to increase? Answer I think it does. 
7th Are there periodical exacerbations? There are exacerbations but they are not distinctly periodical, so far as I know. 
7th quest. Any lucid intervals and of what duration? Dont know
8th quest. Is his derangement evinced on one or on several subjects? Answer. I do not know. 
9th What is the supposed cause of his disease? 
Answer. Jealousy.
