Maj. Genl. Schofield

Dear Sir
I received a letter from Col. Carse of Danville in which he stated, that he had received a communication from Head Quarters stating that the Govt. would pay $10 per month toward paying the rent of the School building in which I am teaching, provided, I would make the application. As I do not know the form in which this application should be made, I will just say to you that the above named amount would be very thankfully received, as the majority of the patrons of the school are very poor, & they are behind in paying their rent & tuition. I would be very much obliged to you if, you would have the above named amount appropriated.
