Hd Qrs 7th Div 5 Sub Dist
Drummondtown Va Nov 23/67

Respectfully returned to S.C Armstrong Agt 5 Sub Dist Va Fort Monroe Va with the statement that the within named furniture was taken possession of by me in compliance with endorsement date Hd Qrs Asst Commr Richmond Va July 25th 1867 -

My reasons for taken possession of said furniture as Government property was that Major Geo. H. French about the 20th of June 1867 came to me and said that Mr. E.P. Stowell had some property [[belonging?]] to the Government and had requested him to ask me if I would receive it as such at the time telling me that Mr Stowell had read a Letter from Capt A.S. Flagg wherein he stated that the furniture was loned [[loaned]] to Capt O.S. Pride until such time as the Government claimed it, and that said Pride had given a bill of sail on said Furniture
