WASHINGTON, Feby 1 1868.

Respectfully returned to Bvt Brig Gen O Brown, Asst Commissioner of Virginia. The endorsement from this office dated Jan'y 22d 1868 referred to finds already in the hands of the Asst. Commissioner. Nearly all the R. & F. fund has been distributed & assigned to the several States, Virginia having received her full share; Virginia however will be entitled to one third of the proceeds of sales & rental of Barry farm, which will amount to about $17,000. - You are authorized to assist in the erection of buildings at Hampton to the extent that you propose and pay the bill from the funds that you have, and then embrace the amount from time to time in your regular estimates.
