General
I have the honor to state, that I have just made a careful inspection of the Orphan Asylums connected with the Howard Grove Hospital, and under the charge of the Bureau.

I am happy to say that I find them in excellent condition, as far as neatness, and comfort are considered, and the inmates contented. They seem to be very kindly cared for by the excellent matrons in charge. The general health, and sanitary condition, are good. I noticed a want of sufficient ventilation in the sleeping rooms of the building under the care of Miss Hathaway Very slight labor will correct the deficiency. I have instructed AA Surg Brower to take measures to correct it at once.

I am with much respect
