The same justice of the Peace, Morgan, violently assaulted a colored woman, tried the case himself, put the woman in jail and released her the next morning, notified her husband to pay the costs. I am endeavoring to collect all the evidence in this case and will submit it to the Military Commissioner for examination as early as practical.

The Case of Wm. H. Brander for a violent & murderous assault upon Virginia White, Col'd dismissed by Justice of the Peace Moody, of this town, will be imported as soon as the necessary evidence can be collected.

I have satisfactorily settled a large number of small complaint of ill treatment and debts due from White citizens to Freedmen of many of which I kept no account.

There are several cases of assault during the month of August, still undecided, as far as I am informed, as soon as the information is received, should it warrant being made in a supplementary report, I will forward it.

Very Respectfully, Yr. Obt. Svt.
