Sir,
I have the honor to make application for the position of Clerk in your office, recently made vacant by the resignation of Mr. C. W. Hawks.
I would respectfully state that I entered the army in April 1861, was mustered into service June 1st in Co "A" 2nd Regt. New Hampshire Vols. served in the ranks untill July 1863 at which time I was detailed for duty in the Ass't. Adjt. Gen. Office at Point Lookout Md. On or about April 16th 1864, was transferred to the Asst. Adjt. Genl Office Hd. Qrs. Div. U.S. Colored troops under the command of Brig Genl. E. W. Hinks stationed at City Point Va.
