I, Respectfully call your attention to the acompaning [[crossed-out]] this [[/crossed-out]] Petition of S. B. Kenney, late asst. Surgeon U.S. Navy. He is a Gentleman of fine Education and more than ordinary abilities. But owing to pecuniary embaresments over which he has no controll compells him to apply to Genl O. Brown, for a situation in the Freedmans Beaurea. He has a Family to suport, and I can asure you is in every way worthy of the suport of all true Republicans.
If not asking too much, I Respectfully request a favorable endorsement on the Back of this letter.
