There is a noticeable improvement in Leut Mahoney's general management in all matters pertaining to his Bureau affairs. The schools at Danville continue very promising. At Pittsylvania C.H. the freedmen are building themselves a school house and expect to have it completed by April 15th elsewhere in the division no movement is apparent for the erection of school houses.

Lieut Mahoney reports that the civil authorities have aided the destitute without distinction of color as far as limited means would permit. The County levies would not suffice to supply all applicants with rations.

In Division No 4 in charge of Leiut A. R. Egbert. U.S.A. I could note no change. He was absent upon Military Commissioner duty I found his papers etc in excellent condition I could hear of little complaint
