I have the honor to make the following report of a disturbance that occured here today from the testimony taken before the court I submit the following

Terry Bobbett and a Mr. Hardy (whites) wer engaged in a political argument, Mr. Bobbett used threatening language to Mr. Hardy: Bobbett and Hardy seperated without coming to blows a moment later Bobbett commenced a quarrel with Scott Coles (colored), after a few moments angry talk Bobbett seized a stick from the hands of some person and struck Coles: Coles stooped to pick up a rock when Wm. C. Bobbett (son of Terry Bobbett) jumped on him, Coles, and cut him several times with a knife in the back and shoulders during this time several rocks wer thrown by different persons when I arrived upon the ground the deputy Sheriff C. T. Keatts had Coles in custody I ordered him Coles, locked up I then ordered the arrest of the Messrs Bobbetts which was promptly done, they wer brought before the court and the Messrs Bobbetts wer bound over in the sum of $100 (dollars) each to answer an endictement before the August term of court. The colored men Coles and Albert Wilson wer bound each in the sum of $50 (dollars) to appear at the same time No disturbance took place afterward, their was a great deal of drunkenness during the day amongst the white people. I did not see a drunken colored man during the day. after the parties wer bound over I ordered the colored people to disperse which they promptly did and now at 10 P.M. everything is all quiet I will say the the disturbance took place
