The communication from your office in regard to my failure to make my monthly reports has been duly received in explanation I have to say that the circulars &c under which I was to make the reports wer never turned over to me by Leuit Mahoney I was not aware that I had to make such reports untill they wer called for from your office I was absent in Danville attending to Bureau affairs which delayed them for a short time: another reason why my reports are not recived promptly is this:
You mail a letter in Lynchburg of a Thursday for this office it is received here Friday Evng. at 8 PM The mail is then closed just as soon as it is received & I am unable to reply until the following Wednesday Just 6 day from the time it is mailed in Lynchburg I propose to transact all business
