General,
I have the honor to apply for a leave of absence for twenty days, with permission to apply for an extension of ten days, for the purpose of having a change of air, and a relaxation from the details and cares of business, which have been constantly upon me for some months

Bvt. Capt. Edward Field 4th Arty. A.S.A.C. 1" Div. 10th Sub-Dist. can attend to the duties of my position,, during my absence, and should anything occur demanding my presence, he will be advised of my address from day to day, and can telegraph me to that effect, and I will immediately return.
