   In obedience to a telegram from you to Genl Brown date Sept 5th I left Richmond yesterday (Sunday) for Pittsylvania C.H. and arrived their the same evening.  I found everything quiet no demonstrations had been made against the colored man in the jail.  The Jailor Mr. Shepherd has taken all nesessary precaution to frustrate any mob who may attempt any violence I start tomorrow for Richmond will be in Lynchburg the last of the week
