Shanandoah S.S.
Mrs C. Rye being duly sworn deposes and says that on or about Tuesday Eevening May 19th 1868 about the hour of Midnight a party of men came to my house in the absence of my husband, and by loud noises yelling &c called for an ax to tear the Porch of my house down. I was very much frightened, not having a man within call to offer any assistence in case of need. I heard firing before they came to the house but they did not fire at the building
