Respectfully returned to W.R. Morse S.A.C. with the information that I never made any definite promises of support to Mrs. Sarah E. Johnson and I have no idea that Lieut. Higgs ever did. I received a note from her informing me that she was teaching and I made an endorsement upon it giving her encouragement in a general way and asking her for more information and promising to visit her and aid her if I could. I never heard from her afterwards till now. I have written to Miss. Moon and made an appointment to meet Mrs. Johnson. When I see her I will make such recommendation for assistance for her as I think the case requires, I have delayed this report hoping to produce a copy of my endorsement refered to by Miss Moon, but I have not been able to get it although Miss Moon says Mrs. Johnson has my endorsement. I never made any definite promises of aid.
