Sir:-

I have the honor to request a leave of absence for thirty days, for the purpose of visiting my parents and other relatives at Norwich, N.Y.
I have been on duty in the Bureau two years and three months, have not seen my parents during the time, and only received ten days leave of absence which was granted in October 1866 for the purpose of visiting the City of Washington.

If the election is not ordered next month, my services can readily be spared for the period desired.

Very Respectfully
Your Obt. Servt.
