Reply returned to Capt Coulter AAAG The sum asked for rent in the written request is too large, being about one third more than is paid in the city of Richmond, and about three times what is usually paid in rural localities. If a portion of the sum asked for rent is designed to go to the support of the teacher it should be so stated.
It is important also to know who is the teacher and what provision has been made for the teachers compensation. These points of information are necessary in all applications for appropriations for rent or repairs of school houses.
