Capt.
I have the honor to ask permission to hire a building consisting of one room 18 ft x 24 ft situated in Grayson Co. near Independence P.O. of Hastin Fulton rent to $15.00 per month to commence Oct. 1st 1868. This is a brother of L.M. Fulton but is in an entirely different locality. The circumstances are precisely the same as in the building asked for to be hired of L.M. Fulton. A less rent or one not commencing in Oct., will defeat my object viz. To make it certain that the Freedmen eventually will own school house and lot. An appropriation of $50.00/100 to each would answer the purpose I prefer to rent the place however as it will enable us hereafter to pay the rent or a reduced rent to the School trustees which can go to the support of a teacher, maps &c. as the people are not at all able to support a competent teacher

Very respectfully
Your obdt Servant
