Sir,
I have the honor to recommend Captain J.W. Sharp, V.R.C. for brevet promotion to the rank of Major in the volunteer service. Captain Sharp has been for a year on duty in the Bureau R.F. & A.L., in this State and is a most reliable, energetic, accomplished and faithful officer. I have reason to believe that his services during the rebellion will be found creditable to him.

I am, Sir
Very Respectfully
