Sir,
It has been reported to these Hd. Qrs., that a certain piece of land in the village of Orange Court house, purchased by a free colored woman named Fannie Morris before the war, and held in trust, by deed, by one Ambrose Madison, is now illegally held from this woman by the son of the trustee, who is deceased.

The Bvt. Brig. Genl. Asst. Comr. directs that you thoroughly investigate this case, and make a full report of it to these Hd. Qrs.

The deed of trust should be on record at the court house of the county.

Yours respectfully
