Monte Carlo,
August 7th., 1937.

Dear Bob:

Many thanks for your good lines of July 29th., and am sorry to hear that you are leaving without my having a chance to see you. However there is a slight possibility of my being in Paris between the 10th., and 14th. of August as someone is trying to arrange for a rather important appointment in which case I would go up for a day.

The two particularly important things I gather from your letter are the possible sale of the paintings of the Gratz museum and of those of the Harrach collection. The latter I believe I visited years and years ago, of Graz I confess I never heard before, except as a small city.

While you are in Paris will you please arrange with François Gerard to secure catalogues of both so that I can have them by my return towards the end of August. You better write yourself as FG is alone and can't typewrite either.

I am glad you saw a good deal of Austin, and hope it will help further relations.

Schatzker-Metternich, I am not in the least interested in it.

Matthiessen, 2 Cézannes - I saw them in London and they are not what I wish to secure and furthermore they are at such prices that we couldn't do anything with them. Murray has returned the Chateau Noir, I am sorry to say.

Maillol exhibition - I surmise you spoke about it to César. I would gladly see it as a secondary show but not as an "Entrée en matière" for the season. I saw a marvelous drawing by him in London.

Frankfurter - I am glad you made notes of your conversations so that you can tell me further about him in New York.

David portrait (£15,000) - I am afraid this is the famous portrait of the man on horseback. If so, be very careful how you acknowledge receipt of it so that we will not be bound to Schatzker by any way or means, as we all know this portrait. However, it might be something entirely different.

With all good wishes to Helen and to you, I am

Most sincerely yours,
R. M. Levy, Paris.
