My dear Mr. Seligmann:

The enclosed editorial from the New York Times of February 20th is of interest if you care to read it. The fact that our Society last year, when no World's Fair was in progress, gave assistance to more than 47,000 persons will give you some idea of the magnitude of our work. Beyond this I am not going to bother you with either statistics or literature.

The Greater New York Fund has recognized the value of our services and the additional burdens the World's Fair will impose upon our organization this year by granting us from their "Discretionary Funds" a special appropriation of $5,000. This is encouraging but far from sufficient however if we are to cope successfully with the problem confronting us.

Will you help us to meet this emergency situation, particularly this year, by sending us some contribution - if only $1.00? Whatever the amount, we will be deeply grateful, and I assure you it is urgently needed.

Sincerely yours,
Elton Parks
President
